Coach Amanda Gex

Amanda Gex brings a lifetime of playing and coaching experience to 901 Rays Softball, along with a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the field.

A Germantown resident for more than 25 years, Amanda grew up in Brentwood, Tennessee, where she played competitive softball for 18 years. She enjoyed an outstanding high school career, earning District, Region, and Substate Most Valuable Player honors and being named All-State in 1993, 1994, and 1995. Amanda was also recognized as an All-American in 1995 and 1996, and in recognition of her accomplishments, her high school jersey was retired in 1996.

Amanda continued her softball career at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where she made an impact as both a pitcher and position player, contributing in the infield and outfield. During her collegiate career, she was named Offensive Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, and Team MVP. She also earned All-SEC Second Team honors in both 1997 and 1998. Amanda graduated Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering.

Amanda and her husband, Correy, began coaching youth softball when their three daughters entered the Germantown Red Devils program. Together, they coached their two oldest daughters throughout their youth careers, both of whom went on to play NCAA Division I softball. Today, they continue to coach and support their youngest daughter as she competes at the high school level.

In addition to coaching with 901 Rays Softball, Amanda serves as an assistant softball coach at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School, where she continues to mentor and develop student-athletes.

Amanda's coaching philosophy is built on two simple principles:

1. Give your best effort.
2. Be a good teammate.

She believes that when athletes commit to these values every day, success follows—not only on the softball field but in every aspect of life.
