Coach Shawn Thompson

Coach Shawn Thompson brings over two decades of coaching experience and a deep passion for player development to 901 Rays Softball. With 18 years of coaching at the high school and collegiate baseball levels, 3 years of coaching softball for Germantown Softball in the Lady Rays and House programs, along with experience as a former scout for the Milwaukee Brewers, Coach Shawn has dedicated his career to helping athletes maximize their potential both on and off the field.

His coaching philosophy centers on building strong relationships with his players and creating a team-first culture where every athlete feels valued, supported, and challenged to grow. Shawn believes that lasting success begins with trust, communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Coach Shawn emphasizes a player-centered approach, focusing on developing confident, fundamentally sound athletes through repetition, preparation, and purposeful practice. He believes that mastering the fundamentals and consistently repeating game-like situations builds the confidence athletes need to perform under pressure and compete at a high level.

His favorite coaching memory reflects the values he strives to instill in every team:

"Watching our team come together and play our best softball of the season to win the league championship after losing to the same opponent three times to end the regular season. It was a reminder that perseverance, preparation, and believing in one another can overcome any obstacle."
